Research Assistance

  • We support the National Archives volunteer program that provides trained individuals to help you with your research.
  • We offer a research service if you are unable to come to the Archives.  Minimum charge, $45 for up to three hours, $15 for each additional hour.  We welcome your e-mail queries.


  • We host an annual full-day genealogy conference.
  • We provide workshops to develop your skills and knowledge in genealogical research.
  • We offer orientation programs, tours of the NARA-Pittsfield facility, demonstrations and lectures.
  • We give assistance to visiting school groups and other interested organizations.


  • We publish the award-winning journal, Archival Anecdotes, featuring educational articles for the genealogist.

Archives Support

  • We purchase materials for the Archives.
  • We host social events for the volunteer staff at the Archives.

The Gift Shop

  • We provide a complete genealogy bookstore, selling essential research books, charts and software as well as genealogy related gift items..
  • We place special orders for our members.

Membership Benefits

  • A subscription to Archival Anecdotes, a semi-annual journal of articles to help you in your research
